Would any teenage recorder player in the road be interested in earning

some cash to come and play for an hour-ish more or less regularly with

Finlay (age 6) He is starting descant recorder grade 1 (also the

treble) and has lessons but it would be great if someone would just

play duets with him and have some fun- ditto piano

Sunday 9th December @The Dorchester Hotel, Park Lane, London W1

City Youth Art Awards 2007 celebrates youth-made art, craft, fashion, music and dance produced by borough-wide youngsters under the age of 19 living and learning in London.

 

The art awards ceremony and luncheon is being held on Sunday 9th December 2007 at The Dorchester Hotel, Park Lane. (12noon until 4pm).... the art awards ceremony will start at 3pm.

 

This is a family-friendly guest-list event; Confirmed guests include local London families, commercial supporters, industry specialists, press and special celebrity supporters who will kindly present per category awards during the art awards ceremony - including the lovely Shola Ama, presenting a young musician award; Su-Elise (formerly of chart topping girl band, Mystique) presenting the Young Dance award and John Foster (from Channel 4's The Salon) presenting the hair & make-up apprentice award ....we expect a fun duo to present the young fashion award.

Since the successful launch of the City Youth Art nominations afternoon earlier this summer at the Foundling Museum, Monelle Bryce (24) devised this voluntary activity to bring a mixture of young artistic talents together in celebration of imaginative and vibrant youth-made art. "...its a great opportunity for young people to enjoy art in a lovely environment and mingle with lots of interesting people of varied cultures said Monelle. " I think the project also encourages people to appreciate creative diversity".

City Youth Art Awards intends to continue as an annual celebration and platform for London's emerging artists, makers and designers.

City Youth Art Awards

Event: Summer opening of City Youth Art 'Nominations' Afternoon - the lead up to end of year City Youth Art Awards ceremony - bringing a mixture of youngsters from all London boroughs together to appreciate, encourage and celebrate youth-made art!

 

When: Sunday 8th July, 12midday until 4pm

 

Where: The Foundling Museum, 40 Brunswick Square, London, WC1N 1AZ

 

Who: City Artists and makers aged 3 to 19 will be showing off their creative achievements in visual art, fashion, playing musical instruments and dance to the delight of industry professionals, the public, press and local (London) families; guests 'nominate' their favourite works on display/performed - the individual with the highest quantity of public votes (per category) will be announced to collect their award at our end of year red-carpet art awards ceremony banquet being held on Sunday 9th December in central London.

Baby Sitting

Do you know some reliable local baby sitters who wish to earn decent pocket money looking after children of our avenue? 
It could interest a responsible teenager not wishing to travel too far, remain in contact with mum and staying in familiar safe circumstances.
Could be an invaluable service that seems to be in demand and would be mutually benficial.

Bridge Club has started

A discussion was held, during the week, about organising some bridge lessons in the street.  You may be interested to read the following about what was decided:

 

There will be 8 lessons, on a Friday, starting  23rd February.

 

The first lesson will be at No 73 and the others will be at one of the

houses offered by the players.

 

For 8 people the cost will be £70 each (for 8 lessons).  For ten people the

cost will be £56.

 

We will go ahead if at least eight people make a firm commitment by 26th

January.
